Sonar Services Provided:

  • ITEM A - Plug and Abandon
  • ITEM B - Temporary Abandon
  • ITEM C - Bottom Site Survey
  • ITEM D - Bottom Site Clearance
  • ITEM E - Rig Moves
  • ITEM F - Move Jack-Up Boats On Location
  • ITEM G - Salvage
  • ITEM H - Orientate Templates
  • ITEM I - Typical Sonar Report

ITEM A - Plug and Abandon- Top

Scan 300' radius of well area as per MMS requirements to insure that no debris is on ocean floor and that pipe was cut below the mudline. A clearance letter and report is sent to the customer after each job for MMS reporting.

    ITEM B - Temporary Abandon - Top

Scan 300' radius of well area as per MMS requirements to insure that no debris is on ocean floor and that well or wells are protected by a net guard. A clearance letter and report is sent to the customer after each job for MMS reporting.

ITEM C - Bottom Site Survey - Top

Scan around platform area prior to rig or jackup boat moving onto location. Noting all canholes, pipelines, debris etc. that may interfere with operations. This survey generally extends out approximately 400' around platform. Measurements can be taken after the job is completed and reports e-mailed to all interested parties. If needed x and y or lat. and long. coordinates can be furnished for each drop.

ITEM D - Bottom Site Clearance - Top

Scan area around platform prior to rig moving on location for any debris that may interfere with operations. Much like a bottom site survey but may extend out-wards from the platform 600' or more. If needed x and y or lat. and long. coordinates can be furnished for each drop.

    ITEM E - Rig Moves - Top

Royal's sonar operators work closely with the rig mover giving him distance to go to location either putting him back in or keeping him out of old canholes and away from pipelines etc. Royal has some of the most experienced sonar operators in the Gulf of Mexico for doing rig moves.

ITEM F - Move Jack-Up Boats On Location - Top

One of the most delicate procedures that is done with a bottom scanning sonar is moving a Jack-up boat onto location and keeping him clear of any debris or canholes. Again Royal's experienced operators and the MS 1000 digital sonar unit make the best team for the job.

    ITEM G - Salvage - Top

The MS 1000 sonar unit can be the underwater eyes for a diver when salvaging debris from the ocean floor. This cuts valuable bottom time to a minimum and makes sure that all debris is recovered.

    ITEM H - Orientate Templates - Top

The Mesotech sonar unit can be used to orientate templates in relationship to rig headings to + or - 5 degrees.

ITEM I - Typical Sonar Report - Top

The job is not complete until the paperwork is done. Not only does Royal give our clients the typical Delivery Ticket for services rendered, but we submit a report compiled in Excel format spreadsheet for our customers to use to file their own reports. The report has a graphic of the Sonar Scan, and enhanced to point out particular anomalies, objects of interest, can holes, trash, pipelines, or whatever is seen by the sonar display.

MS 1000 Digital Sonar Systems- Top

The MS 1000 is designed to convert any standard PC platform into a full-function sonar processor without the use of additional boards or hardware. MS 1000 is a Windows 95/98/NT-based application that utilizes the familiar Windows interface.

The MS 1000 permits the simultaneous operation of multiple sonar heads (imaging and/or profiling), and altimeters, allowing the user to input and record any sensor(s) via RS 232 with an ASCII or BCD format. Advanced target measurement tools and recording of the data (including sonar settings, sensors and navigation data - NMEA 0813 format - 232 levels) makes the MS 1000 the most feature-packed scanning sonar processor available.

This system is perfect for users comfortable working with a PC and needing the flexibility of multiple head operation and data recording.
